Super Eagles handler Gernot Rohr has explained that Lesotho gave his men lot of troubles in Maseru after their win over the hosts in 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Rohr and his men traveled to Lesotho with full confidence after beating Benin Republic in Uyo, but they conceded the first goal against the hosts in Maseru. Nkoto Masoabi scored for Lesotho in the 11th minute beating goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi who was helpless. Nigeria who are three-time African champions, however, came back from a goal down through goals from Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen who netted a brace. And after the encounter, Gernot Rohr praised Lesotho national team for their brave performance against his side. “I want to thank Lesotho people for their hospitality. We know it will be difficult to play here. Lesotho gave us a lot of troubles. “We are happy with the win. It put us in a good position to qualify for the competition, Rohr told a news conference. Nigeria are now topping Group L with six points after two games in the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers with Benin occupying second position on the standings.
