Super Eagles boss Rohr reveals what Nigeria must do to qualify for 2022 World Cup
Nigeria's Super Eagles have been drawn in Group C with Cape Verde, Liberia and Central African Republic for the 2022 FIFA World Cup championship in Qatar.
The three-time African champions have been on the steady rise under the guidance of German head coach Gernot Rohr since his appointment in 2016. Although, the group looks easy for the 2019 AFCON championship bronze medal but the manager believes the opponents are tricky. However, Rohr believes some of the teams are trickier than they look adding that his side will have to be in their best to achieve result at the end of the qualifiers. We’ve 3 tricky opponents in Group C. A few years ago, Cape Verde were Africa’s best FIFA ranked team, CAR have some good players in Europe and we played a friendly in Liberia recently that wasn’t easy...we’ve to be at our best against them,” Rohr told NFF website. The country that finished at the top of the table will battle another country in the final stage of the qualification process. Rohr and his men finished third at the 2019 AFCON competition, winning bronze medal at the end of the tournament after beating Tunisia in the losers' final. The 60-year-old tactician was appointed the Super Eagles handler in 2016 following Sunday Oliseh's resignation. Meanwhile fans are skeptical if Rohr would remain as head coach to guild the team to the next world cup as he was recently involved in a war of words with his employers.
