Man Utd agree £80m transfer for Harry Maguire, medical scheduled for today
Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of completing their third summer signing after agreeing a world-record £80m deal for Leicester City star Harry Maguire. The deal will see the England international become the most expensive defender in history, surpassing the £75million Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk last summer.
Maguire has widely been linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford, with Man City initially attempting to hijack the deal with a mouthwatering offer. However, the EPL champions later pulled out, leaving United as the only contenders for the services of the Englishman. Both the Premier League champions and the Red Devils have previously seen their £70m bids rejected, with Leicester holding out for £90million for their superstar. However, according to a SunSport report, United chiefs upped their offer to force Leicester to sanction the deal. The report now claims the England ace is set to fly to Manchester for his medical today Monday, July 15. This fresh development come just days after Maguire accused the Foxes of pricing him out of his possible mega move. He will be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's third summer signing should the deal see the light of day. The Norwegian has already completed the signings of Welsh winger Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.
