Kogi election : Group accuses Kogi government of plotting to swap card readers, use fake ballot papers

The National Integrity Movement (NIM) has raised an alarm of a plot to swap card readers with pre-loaded ones that will be used in the conduct of elections in Kogi state.
The NIM which is involved in the monitoring of elections in Kogi state said it became necessary to draw the attention of all stakeholders to the alleged plot. According to NIM spokesman, Kayode Esan, the Kogi state government is behind the plot. Esan told journalists in Lokoja on Thursday, November 14, that part of the plot includes the use of fake ballot papers, which have already been printed and will be issued on election day. He said: "We are calling on everybody to be vigilant including the security agencies, as this attempt at disenfranchising the people of their genuine choice at the polls, must not be allowed. "We have it on good authority that the SPO has already been compromised to commit electoral fraud and this must not be allowed. "We urged the staffers of INEC to be wary of their plans to create ethnic tension and crises arising from their compromised tendencies and prey for financial inducement by the state government." The group called on INEC, security agencies and all other stakeholders to be aware of the alleged plan, saying it is capable of destabilizing the state. "Should there be any breakdown of law and order, we call on people of Kogi state and Nigerians in general, to hold INEC and the police responsible,'' he added.
