Thugs Invade kogi state ahead of governorship election - group alleges

The Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Council has alleged that some thugs have invaded Kogi state prior to the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state on November 16.
The spokesperson for the council, Austin Okai, drew the attention of the inspector general of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the commissioner of Police in the state. Okai said the political thugs are expected to disguise in security uniforms and will be mostly deployed to Idah during the election. According to Okai, the suspected thugs have been saddled with the responsibility of attacking members of the opposition party in the state. This fake civil defence officers also doubled as cult members belonging to one of the dreadful secret groups in the state government to operate within Idah and Ibaji local governments, to prevent the PDP members from coming out to cast their votes on the day of the election," Okai said. Calling on the commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps to take charge of the situation, Okai said the consequences of allowing these thugs to carry out unholy operations in the state could be detrimental to the people. Okai said: "The council is in the position of information on several dangerous youths from some states in the middle belt and southwest in various hotels across the state with the same aim.” “The PDP is appealing to the civil defence commandant in the state, not to cave in to the antics of the state government through financial inducement," he added.
