Gov Obaseki insists that Oshiomole was never attacked
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has insisted that the attack by thugs alleged by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole lodges within the realm of imagination of its claimant, as it never happened. He also urged the APC national chairman and former chief executive of Edo State to learn to observe protocols while on visits to the State, as is required by leaders of his class.
Obaseki, who spoke through Crusoe Osagie, his Special Adviser on Media, Communication and Public Affairs, observed that the former governor did not inform him, the governors office, the Commissioner of Police or State Director of the Department of State Service (DSS) ahead of his visit for necessary security, while on visit to the state. According to him, if the party chairman should played his part as required while visiting the state there would be no need for acrimony. Governor Obaseki who maintained that he has no knowledge of the alleged attack on the residence of the APC National Chairman, however stated that the report of the State Commissioner of Police, DanMallam Muhammed should for now suffice as he urged Edo State people to remain calm and go about the normal businesses. Aide of the governor in a Statement issued in Abuja claimed that the alleged attack is as a result of the mindset of those he said are poised to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed by citizens, noting that Oshiomhole had severally in the past vowed to make the state ungovernable. His words, “Oshiomhole has intention of escalating security situation in Edo State as he has said in the past that he was going to make the state ungovernable. When he wants to come to the state, he does not inform the governor, the police or the DSS but the thugs. As a former governor he ought to be informing the governor and security agencies each time he is coming into the state. The commissioner of Police has declared the state peaceful but Oshiomhole and his cohorts were bent on making it ungovernable. But this l know the governor and security agencies would not allow.
