The Edo State House of Assembly has impeached its speaker Mr Justin Okonoboh and a new speaker has been elected. The house elected Hounourable Kabiru Ajoto as it's new speaker.

Over the past few months, reports have continued to filter in on how Mr Okonoboh might be impeached and this move finally confirms those rumours.

Recall that Okonoboh's predecessor was also impeached a year ago and although it is still unclear what led to this impeachment and how the events developed, Premium Times reports that it has been confirmed by senior government officials.
