Collation of results for the Edo State Governorship election would
commence on Thursday (today); the state Resident Electoral Commissioner,
Mr Sam Olumekun said on Wednesday night.
Olumekun disclosed this in Benin after a closed-door meeting with a National Commissioner and two Resident Electoral Commissioners at 11.20 p.m.
He, however, did not give reasons for the shift in date for the exercise.
However, the decision to commence the collation on Thursday can be traced to the late arrival of results from the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
At the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office in Benin yesterday, security was tight as party agents, Journalists and observers were seen waiting for the commencement of the collation of results.
According to an INEC source, those waiting for the collation were given the option of waiting, or coming back for the exercise on Thursday (today).
