The House of Representatives on Wednesday took the decision to suspend the former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Representative Abdulmumin Jibrin, for 180 sitting days.
Jibrin (APC-Kano) was suspended for allegedly breaching the practices and precedents of the lower legislative chamber.
According to the House presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Representative Yusuf Lasun, Representative Jibrin is also required to tender a formal written apology to the House, before his future resumption of duties.
He is also barred from positions of authority in the House till the end of the 8th assembly.
The House of Representatives has three sitting days in a week and going by that, the lawmaker will be away for 60 weeks.
Representative Jibrin had accused Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, and other principal officers, of padding the 2016 budget.
After he made the claim, the lawmaker submitted some documents he claimed  were evidences against the principal officers to four Federal  Government's agencies- the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Department of Security Services (DSS), and the Police headquarters, all in Abuja.
At the resumption of House sittings at the end of the legislative recess, Jibrin was ordered to attend a hearing of the House Ethics Committee, to explain his actions.
He refused to do so, except the hearings were made public.
