Kogi election: There are plots to postpone poll - PDP alleges

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) campaign council has alleged that there are plots to postpone the November 16 governorship election in Kogi state.
The PDP specifically accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Kogi state government of being behind the alleged plot. This was contained in a statement sent to journalists by the party's deputy director public communication, Austin Okhai on Wednesday, November 12. Okhai stated that the APC and the Yahaya Bello-led administration are already jittery ahead of the polls. He said that the PDP has projected that the APC will come a distatnt third in the election, hence the plot to delay the exercise. The campaign council appealed to INEC not to concede to any move that will jeopardise the expectations of the people of the state. The party said its teeming supporters and voters across the state have travelled from far and near, to enable them elect the PDP's candidate. The council said the moves, if considered will affect to a large extent, the outcome of the election. “APC will be no opportunity to reinforce its killer squads through mass recruitment and importation of thugs into Kogi state, geared towards rigging the election in their favour,” the party stated. PDP enjoined INEC to go ahead with the election to usher in a new brand administration into Kogi state. The PDP had earlier uncovered a plan by the APC in the state to arrest and detain its loyalists ahead of the election. The PDP alleged that the plan by the APC is to pave way for mass rigging of the forthcoming election.
