Recruitment: We will administer lie detector test on candidates - Police

The Nigerian Police, as part of the various steps to ensure effective recruitment exercise, is to subject new recruits from its ongoing recruitment exercise to a compulsory polygraph (lie detector) test.

The test, according to the Force, is targeted at ensuring that candidates who will take part in the recruitment exercise are not of questionable character and that their conducts are in line with the standard rules of behavior expected of an individual who is ready to be a police officer.

In a press statement made available by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Don N Awunah, it said, "This test will be in addition to the general background check, biometrics, medical, physical examination, aptitude, oral and psychological tests.

"The Police will also conduct a thorough verification of all documents submitted by prospective candidates.

"The Police Academy and other training colleges across the country will be equipped to carry out the necessary tests".

The Acting IGP, Ibrahim Idris, while reviewing the ongoing recruitment exercise made it clear that no candidate will be admitted for training at the various Police training schools without undergoing these prescribed tests.

The ongoing exercise is expected to enlist 10,000 personnel into the Nigeria Police Force.
