For the second time, a Federal High Court has halted the plan by the Inspector-General Police (IGP), Muhammed Adamu, to recruit 10,000 personnel for the law enforcement agency.
        According to reports, The court through Justice Inyang Ekwo, issued this directive temporarily when it asked the IGP to maintain status quo concerning a previous order issued stopping the recruitment exercise. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the court's decision was in response of a prayer by the Police Service Commission (PSC) asking that the law enforcement agency be stopped from going ahead with the exercise. The report noted that Justice Ekwo had earlier instructed the parties in the suit stay any action in the interim since they have taken the legal path. It was learnt that the counsel to the commission, Barth Ogar, complained that the IGP disobeyed the order that he should not go ahead with the recruitment.
        In his reaction, however, the counsel to the IGP, Alex Izinyon, expressed reservations with the court saying the latter should not have ordered a status quo since the recruitment exercise had reached a certain stage. Izinyon also threatened that he would withdraw from the case. It was earlier reported by Obiaksnews that police service commission had staged a protest to show their displeasure towards the IGP's refusal to heed to court directive when he continued with the recruitment exercise, even though there was a court order for it to be stopped.
