Sudan's former president Omar al-Bashir has been moved to Kobar maximum security prison, days after he was deposed in a military coup. In the wake of growing protest that lasted for over four months by thousands of Sudanese people, President al-Bashir stepped down from office after 30 years of controversial ruling.
        In the early hours of Thursday, April 11, Sudanese government officials confirmed the development, adding that consultations were ongoing for the formation of transition council, as the country prepared to witness a fresh power shift. The coup leader at the time, Awad Ibn Auf, said al-Bashir was being detained in a "safe place" after his removal. Auf also stood down after another series of protest calling for civilian rule. Lt Gen Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan was then named as head of the transitional military council. The former president was earlier reportedly detained at the presidential residence under heavy guard. However, al-Bashir, according to BBC, is now being held in solitary confinement, surrounded by tight security. The protesters have vowed to stay on the streets until there is an immediate move to civilian rule.
