In the wake of growing protest that lasted for over four months by thousands of Sudanese, Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir has reportedly stepped down from office after 30 years of ruling over the African country.
             In the early hours of Thursday, April 11, Sudanese government officials confirmed the development, adding that consultations are ongoing for the formation of transition council, as the country prepares to witness a fresh power shift, Reuters reports. The president was ousted by the Sudanese military and the force will make an ''important statement.'' Over ten thousands people were expected to participate in a marching through the centre of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, as new government is set to be ushered in.
             Earlier, 22 people were reportedly killed on Saturday, April 7, when thousand of Sudanese citizens led by Alaa Salah clashed with security operatives manning President Omar's residence in the country capital. It was a big demonstration of anger and protests as people marched against the 30-year rule of the country's long serving president. Reacting to the stepping down of President Omar, Mohamed Saleh, a 63-year-old university professor who estimated the protesting crowd to be at more than 100,000 people, said: "Today, we won and we are confident that the regime will fall.
