The US will pay its due price if there are further sanctions - North Korea

- North Korea warns that the U.S. will pay its due price if they are sanctioned by the U.N.

Accuses the U.S. of attempting to manipulate the U.N.

- North Korea's recent nuclear test is a legitimate self-defensive measure - government spokesman.
As the United Nations Security Council prepares to vote later today regarding fresh sanctions on North Korea following its latest nuclear test, the Kim Jong-un led government has issued a stern warning to the United States of America who currently spearheads the call for more stringent sanctions to be taken.

North Korea warns that the U.S. will pay its due price for its efforts so far in instigating the UN to impose these sanctions on them.

In a bid to satisfy Russia and China who both have veto powers in this issue, the U.S.-drafted bill which initially proposed an oil embargo on North Korea and a halt to its textiles exports has now been watered down.

Although the new draft still calls for a ban on North Korean textile exports, it no longer calls for blacklisting Kim Jong-un.

A North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman also accused the U.S. of trying to manipulating the United Nation's security council into taking actions against the North's recent nuclear test which it considers a "legitimate self-defensive measure"

"In case the U.S. eventually does rig up the illegal and unlawful ‘resolution' on harsher sanctions, the DPRK shall make absolutely sure that the U.S. pays due price," the spokesman said in a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency.

DPRK stands for the North's formal name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

"The world will witness how the DPRK tames the U.S. gangsters by taking a series of actions tougher than they have ever envisaged," the unnamed spokesman said.

"The DPRK has developed and perfected the super-powerful thermo-nuclear weapon as a means to deter the ever-increasing hostile moves and nuclear threat of the U.S. and defuse the danger of nuclear war looming over the Korean peninsula and the region."
