Just a day before the Democratic National Convention is scheduled to begin in Philadelphia, Deddie Wasserman-Schultz stepped down as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
The development follows humiliating leaked documents by Wikileaks, which shows that Wasserman-Schultz favored Hillary Clinton to emerge as the Democratic Nominee for President; against Vermont Senator, Bernie Sanders, during the nomination process.
The e-mail hack showed the party had conspired against Sanders; and the Vermont Senator called for Wasserman-Schultz's resignation on Sunday.
She will stay on as DNC Chair until Hillary Clinton formally accepts the Democratic nomination for President at the Convention.
DNC Vice Chair, Donna Brazile, will serve as Interim Chair through the election in November.
President Barack Obama issued a statement thanking Wasserman-Schultz for her service, and for having his back for 8years.
Hillary Clinton has announced that Wasserman-Schultz will now serve as honorary chair of her campaign's 50-state program to help elect Democrats around the country because 'there's simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie.'
The Democratic National Convention begins on Monday (today).
