PDP wins Kogi-East Senatorial re-run; while APC clinches Idah constituency

Results have been announced for the Kogi East Senatorial re-run election which held on Saturday.
With 57,575 votes, a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Isaac Alfa of the Peoples Democratic Party, Party, PDP, was yesterday declared winner of the election by the returning officer, Professor Lucky Ovwhasa, defeating five other candidates.
An Appeal Court judgment prevented the All Progressives Congress, APC, from fielding a candidate in Kogi East. Thus, the APC did not participate there.
However, in the Idah constituency re-run, a candidate of the APC, Haruna Idoko, was declared winner by the Returning Officer, Professor Femi Ajayi.
Idoko scored 8,346 votes to beat his closest rival, James Ukwubile of PDP, who scored 8,274 votes.
