Tension In Camp Nou as Barcelona senior players plan to revolt against Quique Setien

Quique Setien's honeymoon with Camp Nou seems to be over after senior Barcelona players are reportedly left confused with the coaching pattern of the new manager following an embarrassing loss to Valencia.

The 61-year-old was brought into the helm as the new boss after the sacking of Ernesto Valverde, with the Spaniard manager given marching orders out of Camp Nou by Barcelona on Tuesday night, January 14. Setien's first game was at home against Granada, and the team only managed to grab a narrow win despite over 1,000 passes. Barcelona were saved from a messy day all thanks to Messi's messianic 76th-minute strike that made the difference of the encounter. The manager's second game against Valencia ended in 2-0 defeat as Messi's presence could not guarantee a comeback out of the embarrassing outing. Barcelona were the favourites to win the game after a beautiful start but Maxi Gomez's second-half brace was the magic needed to condemn La Blaugrana to their fourth defeat in La Liga. Setien quickly risked the wrath of his senior players including Lionel Messi after the Spaniard manager blamed the loss on his stars. The Barcelona manager claimed the defeat was because his players failed to listen to instruction, a comment that angered his players. According to emerging reports, there is a sign of possible revolt among senior members of the squad who reportedly met to map out plans on the possibility of working with the new manager. "A few of the more experienced players held a brief meeting of their own to find out why the team had imploded and what they were going to do next," an insider source said. A big star in Barcelona squad also expressed disaffection with Barcelona's pattern under the new manager while submitting thing could not go the same way. "It's going to be impossible if we continue this way. We have more players behind the ball than in front of it and it shouldn't be happening," the unnamed players said.
