Eden Hazard: Fans angry with Belgian for woeful Champions League performance
Eden Hazard has found himself on the receiving end following Real Madrid's 3-0 demolition at Paris Saint-Germain in a Group A Champions League opener played on Wednesday night, September 18.
Two first half goals from Angel Di Maria and Thomas Meunier's stoppage time goal saw PSG march to comfortable victory over the European football powerhouse. The match saw Hazard make make his full Madrid debut since completing a sensational switch to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer. The Belgian however paraded a below par performance, attracting criticism and condemnation from furious fans. One posted: "Neymar really sat in the stands and affected the game as much as Hazard did today. That’s tough." A second joked: "Eden Hazard giving Nathan Redmond a bad name in this game. While another argued: "Ansu Fati ,16, had a better performance than Hazard ,27, in this week's UCL matchday." French newspaper L'Equipe also appeared unimpressed with the former Chelsea playmaker's underwhelming performance, awarding him a 2/10 rating after the match. PSG who were without Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edison Cavani thrashed Los Blancos by 3-0 at Parc des Princes. Angel Di Maria scored a first half brace as Thomas Munier added another just before the final whistle to seal victory for the Parisians.
