Ahead of the UEFA Awards set to hold on August 29, nominees for the best players in different categories have been shortlisted for the 2018-19 season. Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been selected for best defender award in last season's tournament following their outstanding performances. Also in contention for the award is former Ajax center-back Matthijs de Ligt who now joined Juventus. The Reds won their sixth European title following their 2-0 victory over Tottenham in the final played ta the Wanda Metropolitano. Alison Becker is also a contender for the best goalkeeper in the competition where he stood in-between the sticks for Jurgen Klopp's side for the entire duration of the Champions League.
