President Buhari Will Never Be Fazed By Detractors- APC
The All progressive Congress had stated categorically that anyone making effort to get the president Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, distracted would fail. According to the party, those making efforts to bring up distractions towards halting the president’s progress in his anti corruption war will never success in their bids to undermine, disturb or distract the president. They reiterated their support for the president as he makes effort towards saving Nigeria from the claws of those who had successfully held the country to ransom for many years. It would be recalled that some PDP members made public their fears of the President being one-sided in his fight against corruption, a cry that was out rightly rebuffed by the president and the APC.
Mr. Lai Mohamed, the National Secretary of the party made a public statement on Monday in Lagos that the APC is fully aware of certain elements, who had made it their pass time to find fault with everything the president does and he said the ruling party is poised to respond to them in kind and ensure their fault finding sprees do not get the president distracted in his bid to make Nigeria better than he met it. Mr Lai Muhammed further stated that those on the fault finding sprees must be those who are having skeletons in their cupboards or their foot soldiers.
In his words, Lai Mohammed stated that “these paranoid and skittish people daily run to the media to disparage the Buhari Administration. Grasping at their straws, they condemn and criticize everything from appointments to the war against corruption and the battle against insecurity, even though the party to which they belong had 16 years to make things right for Nigeria but suck the country dry, enthrone insecurity and pauperize the citizenry”.
Mr Lai Muhammed went further by saying the ruling party understands the tactics being used by the distracting elements, which is to make lots of noise hoping that the present administration would get distracted in its duty and using the social and print media as their platform for “incoherent noise” making. He stated categorically that such effort will never see the light of day as the president is too focused and too committed to be distracted. He declared that the Buhari administration will continue to move forward despite all efforts to slow it down or get it distracted.
The APC had earlier said that the idea of a good opposition is always welcoming, since Nigeria is practicing democracy. They however stated that the opposition should do more than base its arguments on what they called “unimportant and baseless accusations” against the government of the day. They equally counseled the opposition to be more focused on the issues on ground and carry out more researches and adhere to the truth to ensure they are able to play their oppositional roles well. The APC absolved the president of blames regarding the ill-equipped state of the Nigerian military and its rather unfruitful war against Boko Haram insurgents.
