APC holds NEC meeting in Aso Rock
The national caucus of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) met on Thursday, November 21 inside the presidential villa, Aso Rock, in Abuja.
The meeting discussed the APC's performance in the last elections, current issues, budget, court cases, and disciplinary matters. The high-level meeting was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, national leader of the APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s first interim national chairman, Chief Bisi Akande. Also present were the governors of Ondo; Rotimi Akeredolu, Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi, Jigawa, Badaru Abubakar, Katsina; Aminu Masari, Kebbi; Atiku Bagudu, Borno; Professor Babagana Zulum Kaduna; Nasir El-Rufai, Edo Godwin Obaseki and Kogi, Yahaya Bello. Senior members of the party who attended include former governors Olusegun Osoba, Danjuma Goje, Ahmed Yerima, Kashim Shettima, Godswill Akpabio and Babatunde Fashola. Others include former senate president, Ken Nnamani and former speaker Patricia Etteh. “Basically, it is just to review the performance in the last elections, current issues, next year’s budget, and disciplinary issues,” Oshiomhole told reporters after the meeting. It was earlier reported Oshiomhole was advised to convene a NEC meeting to resolve some burning issues within the party before the governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi states. The plea was made on Tuesday, November 12 by the director-general of the Progressives Governors' Forum, Salihu Lukman.
