The governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed, says his priority is not to investigate his predecessor, Mohammed Abubakar. Governor Mohammed, however, noted that he would not hesitate to probe his immediate predecessor if anything is found against him.
The Bauchi state governor recalls his ordeal in the hands of the country's anti-graft agency after he left office as the FCT minister. According to Governor Mohammed, he became the most investigated person after he left the ministerial position. The Bauchi governor challenged anyone to expose him if he ever embezzled the public fund to warrant such intense probe by the EFCC. Muhammed who is a candidate of the PDP was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the governorship election held in the state on March 9, 2019. Similarly, the Supreme Court, on Monday, January 20, affirmed the election victory of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as the winner of the March 9, 2019, governorship poll in Sokoto state. It was reported that the members of the team of justices led by Sylvester Ngwuta all agreed with the judgement in favour of Tambuwal. Reading out the lead judgement on the case, Justice Uwani Abba-Aji said that the evidence presented against Tambuwal was of no value.
