FG moves to clampdown on perpetrators of fake news, hate speeches

The federal government on Monday, October 21, said it is committed to the campaign against hate speeches and fake news in Nigeria.
        Speaking on the proliferation of fake news and hate speeches in Nigeria, the minister of information, culture and tourism, Lai Mohammed, no one will be expected in exercising the provision of the law on the matter. Mohammed while speaking as a TVC News flagship programme, #TVCThisMorning said many lives have been lost and careers destroyed as a result of fake news. He said: "The fine of 500k to 5 million will address a lot of these issues. It is going to restore sanity in the industry, not just for the web, but also TV and the Radio."
