The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has called for calm over the closure of some car dealers' shops in Kaduna and other neighbouring states.
        The plea was made in Kaduna by the public relations officer of customs, Joseph Attah, who also urged car dealers to be patient. This was shortly after a sensitisation meeting with Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) and other stakeholders in the state, Daily Trust reports. t Attah, at the sensitisation meeting on Wednesday, October 2, pleaded with car dealers not to take law into their hands.
        According to the customs spokesman, the decision on the operation may be beneficial to the car dealers in the future. He said: “My message before an official announcement is to call on the car dealers to remain calm and law abiding. Nobody should take laws into his hand." Attah said that an official announcement will be made as soon as he receives approval because the management of customs will meet after the Federal Operation Unit (FOU) of Customs submits its report to deliberate on the next line of action. Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Nigeria Customs Service sealed about 110 car shops on Thursday, October 3. The customs is intensifying efforts against those that refuses to pay customs duties on cars by smuggling them into the country. The auto dealerships were sealed in Abuja and other northern states including Kaduna, Kano, Ilorin, Kebbi and Sokoto.
