Suicide bomb attack foiled by police in Bama, Borno State

A planned bomb attack in the Northern state of Borno, has been prevented by the Nigeria police force on Monday.

Three suicide bombers trying to infiltrate the town of Bama through Ajilari in Borno State, were forced into detonating the IED strapped on their bodies when they sighted security operatives on patrol.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the command in the state, DSP, Edet Okon, in a statement said the area had been rendered safe by PMF and EOD personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.

Mr. Okon said: "On Monday April 23; at about 10pm, three suicide bombers who attempted to infiltrate Bama town through Ajilari area were sighted and challenged by security operatives at a guard location.

"The suicide bombers hurriedly detonated the Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) strapped to their bodies, killing themselves only."

The State commissioner of police, CP Damian Chukwu, also assured residents that the force would continue its goal of securing their lives and properties, while urging them to go about their lawful activities without fear.
