Buhari heads to London for medical care

The Presidency disclosed yesterday (Sunday), that President Muhammadu Buhari will  today (Monday) travel to London for 10 days to seek medical attention and take a rest.

The announcement was made via the Presidents' verified twitter handle, @NGRPresident.

It read:

"During the holiday, the President will see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist for a persistent ear infection."

"The President was examined by his personal physician and an E.N.T Specialist in Abuja and was treated.  Both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution."

The President has reportedly been suffering from Ménière's disease, a disease of unknown cause affecting the membranous labyrinth of the ear, causing progressive deafness and attacks of tinnitus and vertigo.

The President's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, had earlier said in a Channels Television programme, that the President was hale and hearty. But the Presidency has now stated otherwise.

The ill-development is said to have been the reason the President canceled his trips to Lagos and Ogoniland; with the Vice President standing in for him instead.
