Boko haram ambush policemen along highway, kills 2

Reports say at least two policemen operating along the federal highways have been killed in Yobe state in an ambush by Boko Haram insurgents. According to reports, It was alleged that the policemen were killed on Monday, January 6, along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway. The report quoted the commissioner of police in charge of Borno state, Mohammed Aliyu, as confirming the attack. The police chief, however, said no officer was killed in the attack. A witness was quoted as saying that two police operatives were killed as security forces ordered all travellers along the route to return to Maiduguri. Bukar Modu, a bus driver, who was said to have witnessed the attack, was quoted as saying: “I think they may have been dead from the attack. We were all asked to turn back to Maiduguri. No vehicle was allowed to pass.” The bus driver said the attack happened between Jakana and Mainok towns, which were also recently attacked by the insurgents. The report said the Army Brigade in Bogozo had relocated to the affected area to protect the travelers on the highway. Reacting, Aliyu said: “As I speak to you now, my men are in the location.
