Chelsea Football Club Barred Doctor from Match Duties
Eva Carneiro, the team Doctor for Chelsea Football Club had just received a ban preventing her from being on duty during match days. It would be recalled that the doctor was heavily criticized by Chelsea Football Club manager, Jose Mourinho for entering into the field of play to treat Eden. The doctor’s and medical team’s role involves attending to players that get injured on the field of play. It is expected that Chelsea would depend on the service of other members of the medical team to take care of players pending the time the ban would be over or a replacement is found for Dr. Eva Carneiro. We can only keep our fingers crossed and wait patiently for outcomes of the whole issue.
How did it all begin? It would be recalled that Dr. Eva Carneiro had to run on to the field of play to provide treatment for Eden hazard just at stoppage time of the club’s match against Swansea City, which ended in a 2-all draw. Since the incidence till date, the club’s coach, Jose Mourinho had never seized to criticize the team doctor. Mourinho was of the opinion that things would have ended up better for the team if not for Eva Carneiro’s singular act in the course of the match.
Some more light had however been shed on the future fortune of Dr Eva Carneiro by the club. Authorities of Chelsea Football Club had declared that the doctor would continue to be the first-team doctor for now. However, they stated she would not be allowed to gain entrance into the team hotel or ever be allowed to attend training sessions. Mourinho believed that it was possible for his team to win the match against Swansea City if the Dr had not decided to enter the field of play when she did. Mourinho put it done to lack of understanding of the game by the doctor, though he said ignorance or lack of understanding is never an excuse, especially considering how very important the game was to the club.
Mourinho argued further that the player the doctor went to help did not have serious injury, but might have just had a knock and was just tired but nothing serious. He therefore saw no reason why the doctor should have entered into the field of play to help the not-so-badly-wounded player at such a very crucial time. According to Mourinho, he was left with 8 outfield players in counter-attack just after set-piece and the team got worried that they did not have adequate players left. He put all the blame on the medical team.
Mourinho further stated that things could have turned out differently if not for what the medical team did. It would be recalled that Chelsea Football Club won the last edition of the Barclays’ Premier League and they are making the drive to retain the cup this season. Their first match of the seasons was the one against Swansea City that ended up in a 2-all draw. Their next game will be away to Manchester City on August 16.
