APC Slams Ozekhome Over Comment On Alleged Ekiti DSS Invasion; Says DSS Officials Didn't Come Near State Assembly

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has expressed outrage over comments by foremost lawyer and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome, condemning President Muhammadu Buhari over the alleged deployment of DSS to intimidate Governor Ayodele Fayose and members of the state House of Assembly.

It regretted that as a known advocate of truth, civil rights and defender of constitutionalism, he is fast losing steam over his "rabid partisanship that has eroded his flowery credentials while defending falsehood founded on rumours".

DSS agents had at the weekend arrested four members of the assembly named in sundry cases allegedly bordering on election rigging and invasion of court, among others, thereby prompting the Speaker to raise alarm that DSS agents invaded the assembly, shooting sporadically before taking the members away.

But APC and some workers in the assembly had since denied the allegation, insisting that there was nothing like invasion and shooting by DSS.
On Sunday, Ozekhome reacted in a statement, accusing DSS of intimidation and unlawful duty, even as he accused Buhari of intimidating Fayose over his criticism of the president.

But reacting to Ozekhome's charge in a press statement by APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, the party accused the senior lawyer of engaging in spreading falsehood, regretting that the civil rights advocate is fast losing focus as a defender of truth while protecting people thriving on criminality and falsehood.
