NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN

It is with sadness I came to realize that the not too young to run proposal has been thrown into the dust bin by the recently held #LAGOS SUMMIT, it is sad that a bill that was welcomed by the Speaker(House of Representatives) and the Depute Senate President could be allowed to die in this manner:The bill that has gotten the support of 25 States House of Assembly could be allowed to go down the drain, just for selfish reasons of few individuals.
Time for the youth bodies/organizations/associations to speak up, the not too young to run was killed by stupid excuses, they said we are not mature to enter into the cadre of leadership, yet we are matured enough to determine the leaders, they said we are not responsible enough yet we are used by them during election period, they address us as toddlers, yet must of the ideas for winning an election is from the youths.
What are these men scared of? They point fingers at the youths, saying how many of us are responsible, but the question that no one has answered till date is how many of the old folks are responsible with all the disgusting behaviors exhibited by them. I heard one speaker saying during the days of Awos and Co the youths were responsible, does it mean the old generation in their time were irresponsible? Why has self-contentedness engulfed our mindset that we should kill the dreams of the upcoming generation because they want to hang on to power? I believe one of their fears is the 2015 election where the youths accounted for over 62% of the votes cast.
These old folks have turned us into tools to serve but not good enough to lead. We are called leaders of tomorrow, when will the tomorrow come? The Lagos Summit has not represented the interest of the youths by this their single act, I call on respective stakeholders to speak out loud and clear in a language that the oppressors will understand and that bill must not go down the historic line in this manner aforementioned.
