Welsh international Gareth Bale has been named among the first five players nominated for the coveted Ballon d'Or.
The Real Madrid forward is also joined on the list by club teammate Karim Benzema, second most expensive goalkeeper of all time Alisson Becker, Manchester City and Argentina striker Sergio Aguero and Paris Saint-Germain and Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani.
The remaining 2018 Ballon d'Or shortlisted players will be be announced throughout Monday, by France Football magazine.
The main event for the awards ceremony held by France Football will hold in Paris on December 3.
Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo is the current holder of the Ballon d'Or.
