US F/A-18 Hornet jet crashes into Philippine sea

A fighter jet belonging to the United States Navy has reportedly crashed into the Philippine Sea following a mechanical issue, with its crew able to eject before the crash.
According to the US 7th fleet, the F/A-18 Hornet had been conducting routine operations when the incident occurred, adding that the crew member are in good condition and were being evaluated on board the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier after they were rescued from the water.
AFP news agency quotes a spokesperson saying Japan's coastguard have been dispatched to search for "any debris or floating oil".
