A United Nation's report says its investigators have located over 200 mass graves in northern Iraq left behind by terrorist group, the Islamic State during its occupation of the country.
The report says the 202 mass graves it found, contained up to 12,000 bodies - with women, children, the elderly and disabled and members of Iraq's armed forces and police believed to be among the victims of the extremist group who held control of the region between June and December 2014.
The remains of the 1,258 have been exhumed by Iraqi authorities.
The UN's human rights office and its mission in Iraq (UNAMI) believes more grave sites could be uncovered in coming months and urged Iraqi authorities to identify the remains and seek justice for their families.
