Two year old rescued from a car in river Teifi in Cardigan dies

A child who was in a car when it was reported stolen has died after being recovered from the car which was found in a river.
Two-year-old Kiara Moore, who would have been three next Tuesday, died at the University Hospital of Wales, after being rescued by police officers from the River Teifi in Cardigan, Ceredigion, on Monday.
Dyfed-Powys Police, which is investigating, said they received a call about a missing vehicle, from Kim Rowlands, Kiara's mother, at 15:30 GMT and about 2 hours later, a silver Mini was found in the river.
In a tweet in the early hours of Tuesday morning, Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Sadly, we confirm that Kiara Moore, aged 2 (27/3/15) was pronounced dead at the UHW, Cardiff last night, having being recovered from a car in the River Teifi, Cardigan yesterday afternoon (19th March 2018). Kiara's family is being supported by specialist officers."

In a Facebook post, her father Jet Moore said: "Thank you all for your help this evening. A mega thank you the officers who jumped in the river and the rest of the emergency services for all they did. Unfortunately Kiara had an amazing but short life."
There is no information about who may have been in charge of the car before it went into the river but the police force is appealing to witnesses who may have seen the vehicle enter the river to come forward.
