US President Donald Trump has obtained a restraining order against an adult film star, Stephanie Clifford aka Stormy Daniels preventing her from speaking publicly about their alleged affair.

According to information on some legal documents, Mr Trump's personal lawyer obtained the order for the president last month in a private arbitration proceedings. Us media reports says it bars the actress from sharing "confidential information" about their alleged relationship which Mr Trump has always claimed to be false allegations.

On Wednesday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters that the president had won arbitration proceedings against the actress,  saying "This case has already been won in arbitration and anything beyond that, I would refer you to the president's outside counsel."

But Ms Clifford's attorney Michael Avenatti while speaking on the issue to CBS news, said he was dumbfounded by the comments coming from the White House press secretary. Avenatti said, "For the White House spokesperson to stand up and claim that Trump won the case in arbitration is ludicrous. How do you win something when the other side is not even invited?"

Details of the restraining order - emailed to Ms Clifford's legal team on 28 February by Michael Cohen, Trump's lawyer- became public, a day after US mainstream media reported that Ms Clifford had filed a lawsuit against Mr Trump, alleging that the non-disclosure contract she had earlier signed only days before the 2016 presidential election was invalid.

In the civil lawsuit filed in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Ms Clifford says the agreement was void because only herself and Mr Cohen signed the hush agreement, "thus rendering it legally null and void and of no consequence".

The suit also made reference to the "bogus arbitration proceeding" where the restraining order was obtained by Mr Cohen which forbids Ms Clifford from sharing any information related to the non-disclosure agreement.

Last month, Mr Cohen confirmed that he had privately paid Ms Clifford $130,000 (£95,000) but did not say what it was for. He also added that neither Mr Trump nor the Trump Organization was a party to this transaction.
