A man, Himanshu Bharadwaj, woke up to the knowledge that an autopsy was about to be performed on him after he was declared dead following his involvement in an auto crash. Bharadwaj had already spent a night at the morgue before waking up narrowly avoiding being cut open.

His family visibly elated that he is alive described it awakening as a miracle after the pathologist at a hospital in Nagpur, India, found a pulse just as he was picking up a blade to perform the autopsy.

Following the discovery, Bharadwaj was resuscitated and rushed to a different ward in the hospital after the error was realised. The car accident he was involved in, on Monday, left him seriously injured. His conditioned worsened after being sent to the hospital and was later declared dead.

A doctor from the Chhindwara District Hospital, Dr. Gedam gave "respiration dysfunction" and "missing pulse" as reasons for the erroneous conclusion that the patient had died. 

He added, "However, his respiratory organs began responding this morning. At times, in brain-dead patients, the heart and the respiratory system stop functioning transiently, which seems to be the case here."

"Himanshu is still brain dead. Thus, we have referred him to Nagpur due to lack of sufficient facilities locally." 

Meanwhile, a large crowd had gathered outside the hospital to protest against the perceived negligence on the part of the hospital's personnel.
