Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu has accused the Iranian Government of building missile production sites in Syria and Lebanon to manufacture precision-guided missiles with the aim of eventually using them against Israel.
These allegations have been disclosed at a time when the current UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres is carrying out his first official visit to the region since taking office earlier this year.
Netanyahu said "Iran is busy turning Syria into a base of military entrenchment, and it wants to use Syria and Lebanon as warfronts against its declared goal to eradicate Israel," Netanyahu said in Tel Aviv, without offering any specifs to support his allegations.
"[Iran] is also building sites to produce precision-guided missiles towards that end in both Syria and in Lebanon," he said, without offering specifics. "This is something Israel cannot accept. This is something the UN should not accept."
