North Korea and US Tensions deescalates as Kim Jong-UN suspends Missile Tests

- Kim warns US to tread carefully.

- Suspends Missile tests.

- Threatens to resume test if there are careless actions from the US.
After weeks of heaightened tensions, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has on Tuesday stated that he intends to suspend his initially planned missile strike near Guam. He however warned that he would not hesitate to carry out the strike if there were further reckless actions from the "Yankees".

Kim further said that he would "watch a little more the foolish and stupid conduct of the "Yankees" before commencing any strike.

"If they persist in their extremely dangerous reckless actions on the Korean peninsula," then North Korea would take action as already declared."

"In order to defuse the tensions and prevent the dangerous military conflict on the Korean peninsula, it is necessary for the US to make a proper option first," Kim added.

Many analysts are of the opinion that these recent statements from Kim are actually a path towards deescalating the already heightened warbound tensions between U.S. President Donald Trump and the North Korean Leader.

There are also suggestions that Kim is aiming to have discussions regarding the US and South Korean annual joint military training exercises which are scheduled to hold later this month.

Regardless of any analysis, it's important to note that none of this could have happened if North Korea's closest ally did not consistently indicated they would not be interested in going to war with the US.

According to John Delury of Yonsei University in Seoul, Kim was "de-escalating, putting Guam plan on ice" — at least for now.

"We are not out of the woods. Both sides need to keep taking steps to de-escalate in words and deed. Diplomacy needs to go in high gear," he added.
