Syrian migrant detonates explosive device in Germany, killing self and injuring 12 others

In the third bloody attack to occur in Germany during the past week, 12 people were injured- 3 critically- when a Syrian immigrant on Sunday blew himself up close to a music festival in an apparent 'Islamist suicide attack.'
The incident occurred at 10pm local time, outside a packed wine bar in Ansbach, near Nuremberg.
The 27-year-old bomber had been denied asylum in the country, and was turned away from an open-air music festival filled with 2,500 people because he didn't have a ticket.
But instead of departing peacefully, he walked to a bar in the centre of Ansback and detonated a DIY bomb filled with metal shavings and screws.
He died on the spot, and injured 12 others.
The blast was initially thought to be a gas blast but the Mayor of Ansbach latertold reporters it is believed to be the result of an explosive device.
The explosion came as Germany, and Bavaria in particular, have been on edge following a series of violent incidents.
Earlier on Sunday, a Syrian man hacked a woman to death with a machete and wounded two others outside a bus station in the southwestern city of Reutlingen before being arrested. Police said there were no indications pointing to terrorism.
It is understood that around 2,500 people may have been at the nearby music festival at the time of the explosion.
