The immediate release of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) final report on the 2012 Dana Air plane crash which claimed the lives of 153 passengers, is being demanded by the families of the victims.
On the fourth anniversary of the crash, the victims' families addressed a news conference in Abuja; in which the Chairman, Mr Paul Okwulehie, also appealed to the Nigerian Federal Government, to compel the management of Dana Air to complete the payment of compensation to the affected families.
The group, which also used the occasion of the anniversary to announce the establishment of a Safer Sky Foundation, further stressed the need for the Federal Government through its regulatory agencies to ensure that only air-worthy air crafts are allowed to operate in the nation's airspace.
On that fateful day in 2012, a Mcdonnell Douglas MD-83 operating as flight 992, crashed into a two-storey building at Iju railway, Ishaga, a suburb of Lagos.
All 153 people on board the aircraft were killed. The NCAA halted all flights by Dana Air, following the crash.
But in September 2012, the airline's license was restored, before the inquiry into the accident was concluded.
However, six months later, the airline was re-suspended; before it was then allowed to restart operations again.
In honor of the victims of the disaster, Cenotaphs were unveiled in Abuja and Lagos.
