American boxer Deontay Wilder is ready to defend his WBC title when he battles Tyson Fury in their heavyweight re-match at the 17,000 capacity MGM Arena on February 22. Their first meeting ended in a no victor, no vanquished affair at the end of the 12th round in December 2018. However, the build-up towards this weekend's clash of the titans entered a fresh new level as both took the stage during their press conference to call themselves names.
According to Sport Bible, Fury referred to the 'Bronze Bomber' a "little midget" after which they both pushed themselves on the platform. The British pugilist did not stop at lashing his opponent but extended it to his co-manager, Shelly Finkel, - branding him "old bald head." The two heavyweights engaged in a war of words ahead of the epic fight, but Wilder had a message for his foe, saying he remains the only reason the Briton ever returned to the rings. Wilder said: "Don't you ever forget who brought you back! Don't you ever forget that!" Meanwhile, Fury gave the fans something to cheer about after calling Las Vegas his home adding that he is unfazed by his former fight opening up. The British fighter insisted that he will knock Wilder out in their epic re-match but Wilder seemed confident of his chances. The 34-year-old described his foe has "pillows for fists." He further stated: "I have to be perfect for two seconds. My doctor said he's never seen power like it." Fury was of the opinion that he was cheated in their earlier fight adding that he should have won the fight two years ago. The Briton has however moved on from that and will be hoping to bring the belt home in their rematch in a couple of days.
