Everton reject massive £85m bid from Barcelona for their star player

Premier League giants Everton have reportedly rejected massive £85m bid from Spanish champions Barcelona for the signing of Brazil international Richarlison.

Barcelona are looking for a new striker who will replace injured Luis Suarez and they think Everton forward Richarlison would be of great help to their campaign this season. But according to the report by Sky Sports, Everton also want to bolster their squad and are not interested in doing business with Barcelona regardless the amount they table. Just 18 months ago, Everton paid Watford £50m to bring Richarlison to the Goodison Park, and the Brazilian has been impressive since he joined the Toffees. In 65 games so far for Everton, Richarlison has scored total of 24 goals including 10 this season. Also in December 2019, the 22-year-old signed a new five year deal at Everton, but that does not convince Barcelona chiefs from going for his signature. The report added that Barcelona director of football Eric Abidal has been tracking Richarlison for long and even wanted the club to make a move for him before the current season started. Luis Suarez will be returning in the final weeks of the season and this has made Barcelona to be looking for a good replacement. They have also been linked with a move to sign Rodrigo and even Arsenal striker Pierre Aubameyang, but the Gunners are also not interested in selling. Dusan Tadic, Lautaro Martinez, Olivier Giroud and Fernando Llorente are other names floated about as potential signings. Barcelona are currently occupying second position on the Spanish La Liga standings with 43 points, and they are three points behind leaders Real Madrid.
