Ecuador vs Nigeria saw the Golden qualify into the round of 16 of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil. Ibrahim Said scored two late goals to complete his hat-trick as an own goal from Daniel Jinadu and another from Johan Mina put Ecuador ahead.
The Golden Eaglets got off to a flying start after just five minutes as Said capitalized on a poor clearance by the goalkeeper to score into an empty to make it 1-0. The Ecuadorians equalized in the 10th minute as a shot saved by Daniel Jinadu hit the post and bounced off the Nigerian keeper as it counted as an own goal to make it 1-1. Both sides were evenly matched in the game but the first half produced no further goals as they went into the break. But in the 55th minute, Ecuador were awarded a penalty after Charles Etim fouled a striker in the box and the referee confirmed from the VAR to award the spot-kick. Johan Mina converted the penalty as the South Americans got their noses in front for the first time in the match to make it 2-1.With six minutes left on the clock, Said got his second of the match in fabulous fashion as he curled in a shot from yards out into the back of the net to make it 2-2. Said completed his hat-trick in the 89th minute after a well-worked team play from the Nigerian side from outside of the 18-yard box to score a cracking shot as it became 3-2. And that was how it ended as the Golden Eaglets made it through into the round of 16 of the tournament.
