Olivier Giroud hints on january exit if not given more playing time
Olivier Giroud has admitted he could leave Chelsea if he does not get enough game time from Frank Lampard. The France international has only made five appearances under Lampard this season and the striker is getting frustrated sitting on the bench.
Giroud has been made second choice behind the Blues' new scoring sensation Tammy Abraham who has nine goals already in all competition this season. The 33-year-old is not willing to be used as back up for the England international at Stamford Bridge. The Frenchman has been linked to MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps and it is understood he is also wanted by Serie A giants Inter Milan. Giroud was on target in France's 1-1 draw with Turkey in a Euro 2020 qualifier, his 38th international goal. Giroud said: “I’m going to fight for my place at Chelsea and we will take stock of the situation in January. “If you ask me whether I want to leave I’ll say ‘not necessarily’ but when other things enter the equation. “But if they force me to make a decision I will do it – just like when I left Arsenal.”
Giroud warns Chelsea he will quit in January if he is not given more minutes in the coming months.
