Joe Aribo expresses delight after receiving Super Eagles debut call-up
Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has expressed excitement having being handed his first ever Super Eagles call up by coach Gernot Rohr. The 23-year-old was among the 23-man shortlist for September 10 international friendly game against Ukraine. Aribo's performances has however attracted the attention of the German born tactician who is looking for replacement for retired John Obi Mikel.
The attacker who has already scored three goals in five Europa League matches this season revealed that he spoke with one of the technical crew earlier before he got the invitation. He told allnigeriasoccer.com: ''I am very happy, it is a dream come true to receive the call-up. ''My agent was the first person to inform me that I was invited to the Super Eagles. I had spoken to one of the assistant coaches in the team before the invitation. Aribo kicked off his senior career at Staines Town in 2014 and featured for the club 22 times before leaving them one year after. He spent four years at Charlton Athletic, scoring 14 goals in 81 appearances for the lower league side, and this exposed him to top European coaches. After the expiration of his contract at Charlton, the midfielder decided to seek fresh challenge in the Scottish League and signed a four year deal with Rangers as a free agent.
