Cristiano Ronaldo emerges first player to win MVP in 3 top leagues
Cristiano Ronaldo has added another award to his collection after emerging the Serie A player of the year. The Portuguese star netted 21 times in 30 league games along with eight assists in the Italian topflight this term Ronaldo is now the first player to win player of the season awards in three of Europe’s top five leagues.
The Portuguese star picked up his award as Serie A's best player in 2018-19 campaign on Sunday, May 19, at Allianz Stadium after enjoying a successful debut season at Juventus. According to Give Me Football, some fans were divided between the Portuguese star Ronaldo and Fabio Quagliarella, but Ronaldo has impacted positively at Juventus since his arrival last summer. Interestingly, the Portuguese's goals and assists ensured Juventus defended the Serie A titles with games to spare which is usually the case, but would have been tougher without Ronaldo. The report further hinted that Ronaldo’s emergence as the 'most valuable player' is a fair assessment, even as it stressed that Quagliarella is good to go with the 'best forward' prize. Other Serie A individual award winners include Samir Handanovic (goalkeeper), Kalidou Koulibaly (defender), Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (midfielder) and Nicolo Zaniolo (young player).
