Super Eagles to earn N1.6bn if crowned African champions at AFCON 2019
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will pocket N1.6bn if they can win the AFCON 2019 tournament, Nigerian have been drawn alongside Burundi, Guinea and Madagascar in Group B. Every participating nation in the tournament will go home with at least $600,000 (N216 million) each.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will become N1.6 billion richer if they win their fourth Africa Cup of Nations title in Egypt, The 24 nations competing in the AFCON 2019 tournament in Egypt will take home at least $600,000 (N216 million) each. In the competition's history, 24 teams will be participating in the soccer fiesta and bring additional revenue to the Confederation of African Football (CAF). And according to CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad, the winner will pocket $4.5m (equivalent to N1.6bn) in addition to the trophy they will raise on July 19. ''Obviously, we increased the prize money for the competition,'' Ahmad Ahmad said to Radio France International. Defending champions Cameroon earned $4m for winning the 2017 AFCON tournament, while runners-up Egypt, received $2m.
