Shortly after a group of NFL players engaged in a kneel protest during the National anthem before their game on Sunday

"Why is the NFL getting massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country? Change tax law!" Trump wrote in a post on Twitter.

Although Trump's demands were not specific, he may be referring to the tax breaks the NFL has been getting to attract more investments and stadium development in the game. The NFL had already given up their tax exempt status but the US government has continued to give it to them for the same reasons.

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence was in attendance of the game and left shortly after the anthem.

"I left today's Colts game because @POTUS and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem." said the U.S. VP in a tweet.

President Trump also followed up with a tweet acknowledging Pence was acting under his instructions when he left the game.

"I asked @VP Pence to leave stadium if any players kneeled, disrespecting our country. I am proud of him and @SecondLady Karen."

The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution bars the government from limiting free speech, including prohibiting protests around the national anthem or punishing people who choose not to stand. The national anthem is played before every NFL football game and many other sporting events.
