I'll get to the ball quicker next time, says Mane after red card

- Sadio Mane aims to be a faster player after seeing red card.

- Had no intentions of hurting Ederson.

- Has made contact with City goalkeeper Ederson since the incident.

- Maintains that incidents like this are part of football.
Liverpool FC striker Sadio Mane has disclosed that the red card he received last week for his high footed challenge on Manchester City goalkeeper has only improved his resolve to become a faster player.

Mane was sent off in Liverpool's 5-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend after his attempt to retrieve a high ball led to City's goalkeeper receiving the end of his boot.

After replays and reviews, everyone has so far been in agreement that the Senegal International had eyes on the ball and could not have seen the goalkeeper rushing out.

"Honestly, I think in the next time I will get the ball before him," he said.

"My intention was not to hurt the goalkeeper. It was bad and I wish him the recovery to come back healthy.

"I think it was a challenge for the ball. Honestly, I was going for the ball, I didn't have intention to hurt him because I am not that kind of player so I wish him a quick recovery.

"I made contact and it was not what I wanted to do so I apologised to him. It is part of football so I cannot change anything.
